Every year the English Department hosts a campus-wide creative writing contest. Entries are accepted in four categories: Poetry, Short Fiction, Non-Fiction Essay, and Art. Three judges read the entries in each category. Judges are asked to rank the entries in order of merit. Until the contest is over, they will not know who wrote the entries, or how the other judges ranked them. The process is finalized when the scores are tallied and the winning documents are announced. Each winner receives a cash prize and a chance to be published in Scribendi, USU’s literary magazine.
